Carrowbawn Blackbird aka Frankie, height certificate at 14.2hh, Irish sports horse, gelding.
Frankie has been there, done that and got the rosette to prove it. A real all-rounder and any competent teenager on his back would progress massively. Frankie is 15 years old and competing better than ever! Has many more years of competitive competition ahead!
We have now owned Frankie for 4 years and feels he need to move on to take another young competitive teen to the top. Throughout the time we have owned him, he has mainly been showjumped. Many double clears on his BSJA records, competing for one year as a junior and 3 as a senior. Regular jumping tracks and 1m-1.15m showing speed, agility and tidiness over the fences. Frankie can become strong when jumping so for that reason, not a novice ride. Last year Frankie qualified for second rounds in the British Novice and Discovery. Jumping very well around the challenging courses however had some unlucky poles. BSJA winnings of approximately £250-300.
Frankies favourite discipline has to be cross country. He €™s an extremely bold and brave horse and jumps anything you point him at. Puts 100% in all of the time and never fails to disappoint. Previously competing in hunter trails, one day events and cross country competitions of tracks up to 1.15m.
Recently, we have been working very hard to improve his flatwork and dressage. After around two years out of the dressage ring, Frankie made an appearance recently in a Prelim test showing relaxation, good rhythm and oozing presence scoring 67% receiving a 1st.
100% in every way, turned out or hacking alone and in company, farrier, dentist, vet, loading and standing at competitions. No vices, no injuries or lameness in the whole time we have owned him.
This horse has taken a 16 year old from jumping tracks of 75cm, to tracks of 1.20m, cross country tracks of a similar height and opened the door for many other opportunities.
Frankie is perfect for a competent teen who wants to compete and do well!! He will never shy away from a challenge and will provide you endless days of progression, achievement and joy!
